WE HAVE JUST SPENT BRIDGE DAY WEEKEND AT COUNTRY RIVER INN. IT WAS A PLEASANT SURPRISE AND UNIQUE. THE ACCOMODATIONS WERE VERY NICE AND A GREAT IMPROVEMENT OVER SOME OF THE MAJOR HOTELS I HAVE VISITED. LOIS MADE FOR US A REAL COUNTRY BREAKFAST AND A TASTY PIZZA. THE INN IS VERY CONVENIENT TO ALL ACTIVITIES AND THERE ARE LOTS OF GREAT PLACES TO EAT IF YOU WANT. WHILE WE WERE THERE, WE EXPERIENCED A MINOR AUTO PROBLEM AND RICK AND LOIS WENT OUT OF THEIR WAY TO HELP US CORRECT IT. THEY SURE KNOW HOW TO MAKE YOU FEEL "RIGHT AT HOME". THANKS FOR EVERYTHING RICK AND LOIS. P.S. THE TRAIN RIDE WAS GREAT. HI TO DELILAH, JO

We spent a beautiful 3 days at Country River Inn. Rick & Lois made us feel right at home and Polly (the dog) was the bomb! We were greeted at least 3 times a day by Polly with lots of love. The rooms were very nice, clean and spacious. Rick & Lois' knowlege of the local fare and hiking trails was very helpful. Looking forward to staying again next year and hopefully the hot tub will be ready!!! We recommend this lovely place to anyone. Thanks again for a great place to stay and feel welcome.Mike and Cynthia

Usually where one stays on a vacation is insignificant unless the accomodations are exceedingly bad. For our West Virginia trip it was the opposite. Our stay at the Country River Inn actually enhanced our visit. The hosts are fantastic and Polly is a great little dog. The accomodations are a great value for the money and easily better than staying at a run of the mill hotel. And just as their web page states, they really are right in the middle of it all at the New River Gorge. Nathan and Julie

My family stayed at the Country River Inn this past weekend (13 of us total to celebrate my brother's 30th birthday). The rooms are extremely clean, spacious, and cozy. This hotel offers all of the amenities of a large hotel chain and more. A great place to stay at a great price! We will be back!

To All Old-Time String Band Musicians Attending the Clifftop Convention: Country River Inn is a wonderful place to stay during the convention. The daily drive to and back from Clifftop is easy - and there is more than a little something to be said for sleeping in a nicely made bed each evening, taking a hot shower in the morning, and having a continental breakfast prepared for you each morning. For those of you who are wondering if you might be getting too old for or tired of camping at Clifftop, Country River Inn is a super alternative. Duncan Blair Birmingham, Alabama

We recently had the pleasure of spending a weekend at Country River Inn and we found the rooms very clean, comfortable and quiet. Our friendly hosts made us feel very much at home, but also graciously allowed us to enjoy our family time. CRI is convenient to Fayetteville and several area restaurants. We highly recommend Smokey's On The Gorge located across the New River Gorge Bridge. We also enjoyed our meal at the Sedona Grille. Thank you, Lois, Rick and Delilah. Charles and Becky Carter

Thanks so much for a wonderful, comfortable night, and the local knowledge was invaluable. The trip with USA Raft down the New River was one of the most fun things we've ever done, and we came thiiiiiiiiiis close to staying over another night and doing it all again Tuesday. We're definitely comin' back that way one of these days and the Country River Inn, the Sedona Grill and the Cathedral Cafe will be "must" stops for us. We had never been to the area and were looking for hotel accommodations in Fayetteville. We came across Country River Inn on the internet and it looked like an interesting alternative to a traditional hotel....and very close to our planned horseback riding and whitewater rafting activities. We are so glad that we chose it -- it was simply perfect. In many ways like a hotel with new, clean and well appointed rooms....but the homey and personal touch of a B&B! The kids loved it because it was different and we all enjoyed visiting with and the hospitality of Rick, Lois and Delilah. And Polly the dog who was icing on the cake. I would recommend the Country River Inn to anyone, we'll definitely be back. Sean, Shelly, Sheridan and Taylor (Cincinnati, OH)

Hi, being back in little Denmark after our trip to the US, everybody in our group agree that staying with Lois, Rick and Delilah at the Country River Inn was an important factor to make our stay in WV as good as we think it was. The facilities and service were really clean and good, but the hosts are really what makes us want to drop in if we ever get to WV again. The communication and arrangements prior to our arrival went smooth. Rick and Lois were really helpful and they recommended a lot of good stuff that we enjoyed seeing while staying there. Thanks guys, drop us a note if you ever think of going to Denmark ;) -The four danish scouts. Helena, Katrine, Louise and Chris

The inn was wonderful. The rooms were larger than expected and so clean. It was extremely nice to stay somewhere and feel at home. I know the kids enjoyed Polly as well as the freedom to be able to move around the building without us worrying about them. I hope you were able to finish your pool deck. I know Joshua was disappointed that we would not allow him to lend a hand in the building process. Thank you also for sending us home with some tomatoes and green peppers. It was a nice surprise and thoroughly enjoyed. The Leibel's

Thanks again for the wonderful stay at the Country River Inn. Rick and Lois go above and beyond to make your stay a happy one. The rooms are better than any hotel where I have stayed. I was treated like family. Being a former teacher, I really enjoyed staying in a historic remodeled school building. It was a great idea to turn it into a bed and breakfast. I travel frequently and wish I could stay more often. I definitely will return if I'm in the area again. Thanks for everything, Joe Mazzola Mid-American Coaches Washington, MO

Truly a hidden treasure in the mountains of West Virginia! From the very gracious hosts of Rick, Lois, Delilah & Polly to the comfortable, spacious rooms, it is simply a delightful place to stay! And listen to Rick & Lois' recommendations on where to eat--they will point you to some wonderful local restaurants. (Matter of fact, we are trying to recreate one of the unique pizzas that we had a "Pies and Pints"!) We cannot wait to pass along our great find to our friends. The Country River Inn is a fantastic place to stay. Not only are the rooms clean but the entire Inn is spotless. We really felt at home staying there. We had a slight emergency and had to stay an extra night. Rick and Lois were more than accomodating and really made us feel right at home. I have been coming to this area for over 10 years to go white water rafting, this is the first year that I have been truly happy with where I have stayed. I plan on rafting for many more years and will continue to come back to the Country River Inn each time. When you stop by to say Hi, take a dog treat with you because cute little polly will be there to greet you with a tail wag. We wish Rick, Lois, Delilah and Polly the very best. They are a super nice family and they have the best place in town to stay. Tony & Carol

We have just returned from our first visit at The Country River Inn - and it will NOT be our last. We have been returning to West Virginia for over 30 years, and we have stayed in a lot of places...this is by far the best. The room was wonderful, it was homey and CLEAN! The food was great - and the company even better. Delilah, Polly, and oh yes, Rick and Lois - could not have made us feel more welcome - almost like family. We told our "travelling" family about the Inn - and are hopeful that more will come with us. We know that we will be back! Thank you all for the best home away from home experience that we have had. The best breakfast in town. Lois, makes awesome milk gravy. Anyone who chooses this property to stay will enjoy the bed and breakfast feel that it offers. Great beds, great people and a really unique setting in an old renovated grammar school give this property a cool retro look. Very quiet and away from downtown, you feel as if you are in the middle of the woods. Great job on the renovation Rick. Hope to return soon to this great place. I would recommend to all.
